biography

Hollow Ship is a four-piece psychedelic rock band from Gothenburg, Sweden,

known for their dynamic fusion of early British psych sounds,

afro-rock rhythms, and jazz-infused improvisation.

Hollow Ship is a psychedelic rock band built around rhythm, momentum, and openness. Their music moves between dense grooves and open space, precision and release—drawing listeners deep into the present moment along a constantly unfolding path.

The music is characterized by intricate instrumental storytelling, an organic

live energy, and a willingness to push genre boundaries.

Since their debut 7” single We Were Kings (2019) and critically acclaimed LP

Future Remains (2020), Hollow Ship has been praised by Prog Magazine, Shindig!,

and *Raven Sings the Blues*

The band’s reputation has continued to grow, fueled by their distinctive sound and immersive live performances.

Their 2023 single Utsuro Bune, inspired by a 19th-century Japanese UFO legend,

further showcased their ability to merge historical and fantastical themes within their music.

the Animated Music Vinyl EP (out May 31, 2024, via PNKSLM Recordings), exemplifies their instrumental prowess and deep musical interplay,

originally crafted as part of their Space Motion live collaboration with visual artist Freddy Wallin.

The band name represents the empty vessel—remaining open: a space without fixed meaning, floating through time with frequencies as fuel, vibrating in a shared experience and offering passage to anyone willing to step aboard. No answers are given. Only the journey. Welcome to the dance. Live, Hollow Ship focuses on flow and presence. Sets shift naturally between drive and restraint, occasionally punctuated by brief silences or immersive soundscapes to heighten focus and anticipation. Words are few—the music carries the experience.

With a rhythm-driven, exploratory approach that draws comparisons to acts like Dungen and Goat, Hollow Ship has established itself as a key player in the contemporary psychedelic rock scene.

As they continue to evolve, Hollow Ship remains committed to innovation, with a second full-length album coming up. Whether on record or on stage, the band offers a hypnotic and forward-thinking take on psychedelia, solidifying their place as one of Sweden’s most exciting musical exports.
